- We made a gingerbread house, and by that I mean that we assembled pre-baked and pre-shaped pieces with frosting and pre-packaged candies
- Return to L.A. accompanied by an urgent request from the landlord, posted on Christmas day, not to let a certain homeless man live in our garage. We initially laughed this off (I thought it was the peaceful-looking man in full African garb I once saw napping on our lawn). Not so funny after we actually saw the homeless man in question.
- New Year's Eve: mostly made memorable by the fact that we bought and consumed the most delicious and juicy oranges in the world
- View of sunset (and lone beach-enjoying dog) on our first day in Pismo Beach
- Wine by the window!
- We went to a monarch butterfly nature preserve, and saw (surprise!!) monarch butterflies
- The mission to find the fabled Oceano Dunes. It turns out the ONLY way to get to the dunes is to drive your car 18 miles down some beach. Obviously we couldn't drive our Corolla on the sand, but we spent a lot of time there anyway because it was so bizarre-looking to see armies of cars drive up and down the beach, appearing out of the fog.
- Sand dollar search in the afternoons
